On Romans 8 he names the Spirit's help in weakness: "The Spirit… makes intercession for the saints" (Bible Hub commentaries on Romans 8:26; Bible Hub MHC Romans 8).

What does the Bible say about the Holy Spirit?
The Bible presents the Holy Spirit as God himself, the third Person of the Trinity, sent by the Father in Jesus's name (John 14:26). He is not a force or a feeling but a Person who teaches, guides, and can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30).
The work of the Holy Spirit in Scripture comes down to a few points:
- He gives new life. "No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit" (John 3:5).
- He lives in believers. "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?" (1 Corinthians 6:19).
- He teaches and guides. He guides "into all the truth" (John 16:13).
- He helps us pray. "The Spirit helps us in our weakness" (Romans 8:26).
- He gives power to witness. "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you" (Acts 1:8).
- He grows fruit. "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23).

12 Bible verses about the Holy Spirit
John 14:26. "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." The Spirit is a Teacher and Reminder of Jesus's words — not a rival gospel. See Love and the Holy Spirit.
John 16:13. "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth…" Guidance here is truth-shaped — the Spirit leads into what is true, not into novelty for its own sake. See Bible verses about truth.
Acts 1:8. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…" Power is for witness, not for private branding. See Bible verses about courage.
Acts 2:38. "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" The Spirit is gift alongside repentance and forgiveness — not a wage for perfection. See Bible verses about forgiveness.
Romans 8:26. "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans." When prayer runs out of words, the Spirit still helps. See Bible verses about prayer.
Romans 8:14. "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God." Leading marks family belonging — children, not hired hands. See Bible verses about identity.
1 Corinthians 2:12. "What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us." The Spirit opens understanding of gifts already given — grace received, not secrets invented.
1 Corinthians 12:4-7. "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit… Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." Gifts differ; the Spirit is one; the aim is common good, not spotlight. See Bible verses about the church, Bible verses about serving others, Bible verses about spiritual gifts, and Bible verses about speaking in tongues.
Galatians 5:22-23. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…" Fruit grows; it is not a weekend performance. Love leads the list. See Bible verses about faithfulness and Bible verses about kindness.
Ephesians 1:13-14. "When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance…" The Spirit seals and guarantees — belonging with a future attached. See Bible verses about hope and Bible verses about salvation.
Ephesians 4:30. "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." A Person can be grieved — holiness and kindness toward one another matter. See Bible verses about holiness.
Ezekiel 36:26-27. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you… And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees…" God puts his Spirit within so obedience is moved from the inside. See Bible verses about obedience and Love and the Holy Spirit.
