— Colossians 1:27 (NIV)

Word study (lead theme). In Greek, ἐλπίς elpis (Strong's G1680; Bible Hub G1680) means hope / expectation, and δόξα doxa (Strong's G1391; Bible Hub G1391) means glory / honor / brightness. Colossians 1:27 joins them — Christ in you, the hope of glory. This list tracks that hope-of-glory confession and related "hope of the glory of God / appearing of the glory / hope… glory" language centered on Christ and coming glory, not every hope verse alone.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Colossians 1 presses that the mystery made known among the Gentiles is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Bible Hub MHC Colossians 1; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Colossians 1). (Hope and hope-of-Israel live on those pages; this list centers Colossians 1:27's hope-of-glory confession.)
