"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."
— Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
People who search bible verses about salvation want Scripture for God's rescue — grace through faith, one name under heaven, and a Savior who dies for sinners. This page is a numbered list of fifteen passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. The wider essay sits under Love and salvation. Related lists: Bible verses about faith, Love and faith, Bible verses about grace, Bible verses about forgiveness, Bible verses about God's love, and Bible verses about hope. Salvation here is God's saving act in Christ — distinct from the trust-response focus in Bible verses about faith (faith is how we receive; this page stays on the gift and the Giver). The buy-back and ransom are Bible verses about redemption. God named as help and deliverer is Bible verses about the deliverer. Rescue from trouble, fear, and evil in this life is gathered in Deliverance scriptures. For Scripture on how Christ's blood saves, see Bible verses about the blood of Jesus. Scripture calls that new life being a new creation. For Jesus' words in John 14:6, see Bible verses about the way, the truth, and the life.
Word study (lead theme). In the New Testament, "salvation" is often Greek σωτηρία sōtēria (Strong's G4991) — deliverance, preservation, salvation. See also Bible Hub G4991. In Hebrew, יְשׁוּעָה yeshuʿah (Strong's H3444; Bible Hub H3444) means salvation, deliverance, help — the rescue God brings.
Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Ephesians 2:1-10 shuts the door on boasting: "Our faith, our conversion, and our eternal salvation, are not of works, lest any man should boast" (Bible Hub commentaries on Ephesians 2:8; fuller MHC at Bible Hub MHC Ephesians 2 and Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Ephesians 2). On Acts 4 he centers the only name: "The name of Jesus is given to men of every age and nation, as that whereby alone believers are saved from the wrath to come" (Bible Hub commentaries on Acts 4:12; Bible Hub MHC Acts 4).

15 Bible verses about salvation
Ephesians 2:8-9. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Salvation is gift-grace received through faith — not a wage. See Bible verses about grace and Love and salvation.
Acts 4:12. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." One name — Jesus — not a menu of saviors.
Romans 10:9-10. "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." Confession and heart-belief answer the gospel. See Bible verses about faith.
John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Salvation is love's gift aimed at belief, not perish. See Bible verses about God's love.
Romans 1:16. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…" The gospel is power that saves, not a weak suggestion.
Titus 3:5. "he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy…" Mercy, not résumé, is the ground. See Bible verses about mercy.
Acts 16:31. "They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.'" The jailer's answer is still believe in the Lord Jesus. See Bible verses about faith.
Isaiah 12:2. "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation." Salvation is a who — God himself — before it is a what.
Psalm 62:1. "Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him." Salvation has a source; rest waits there.
Romans 5:8. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The cross timed itself for sinners, not graduates. See Romans 5:8.
2 Corinthians 5:21. "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." Exchange is the heart of saving work. See Bible verses about forgiveness.
John 14:6. "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" The way of salvation is a Person. See Bible verses about truth.
Hebrews 2:3. "how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?…" Salvation ignored is not salvation delayed forever — it is danger. See Bible verses about hope.
1 Timothy 2:5-6. "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people…" One mediator; one ransom.
Psalm 27:1. "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?" Salvation steadies fear because the Lord himself is the rescue. See Bible verses about fear and Love and salvation.

Questions people ask
What is a good Bible verse about salvation?
Ephesians 2:8-9 is the classic: by grace, through faith, not by works. Acts 4:12 names the only Savior. Romans 10:9-10 shows confessing and believing.
What does the Bible say about how to be saved?
Believe in the Lord Jesus (Acts 16:31); confess him as Lord and believe God raised him (Romans 10:9); receive the gift of grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Henry: salvation is not of works, lest any boast.
How is salvation different from faith?
Faith is trusting Christ; salvation is the rescue God gives. Faith receives; grace saves. For trust-focused verses, see Bible verses about faith. This page stays on the gift and the Giver.
Is there only one way of salvation?
Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 say yes — Jesus' name and person — not a ladder of self-improvement. Henry: that name alone saves from the wrath to come.
