"It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."
— 1 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)
The line people search as love keeps no record of wrongs is from 1 Corinthians 13:5. Paul is still listing what love refuses. This page stays with that clause: the words, a plain reading, and how it sits next to patience, kindness, and forgiveness without pretending harm did not happen. The wider block is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and What 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 means. Forgiveness alongside love is Forgiveness and love.

The verse
1 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV) says love "does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."
Older English often reads "thinketh no evil" or "is not resentful." The picture is the same: love does not keep a ledger of insults to bring out later.
What love keeps no record of wrongs means
A record of wrongs is a mental scorecard. Every slight is filed. The next conflict pulls the whole file. Paul says love does not run that system.
This is not a command to deny facts. Verse 6 says love rejoices with the truth and does not delight in evil. Naming harm, protecting the vulnerable, and refusing to cover abuse are part of that truth. "Always protects" in verse 7 is a reason to stop ongoing harm, not a reason to hide it. 1 Corinthians 13:7 stays with that line.
Keeping no record means you do not weaponize a settled confession. You do not rehearse old debts to win the present argument. Forgiveness in Colossians sits next to that practice: Forgiveness and love.
How this lands in a relationship
In a marriage or friendship, the scorecard shows up as "you always" and "you never," built from years of filed moments. Patient love (Love is patient Bible verse) slows the retaliation. This clause refuses to keep the ammo. Love and marriage sets both inside the covenant. The whole chapter is 1 Corinthians 13.
