"I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth."
— Job 19:25 (NIV)
People who search bible verses about Kinsman Redeemer want Scripture on the Hebrew goel — the near-kin who buys back, avenges, and restores — not only the broader Redeemer title inventory. This page is a numbered list of twelve passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. Related lists: Bible verses about the Redeemer, Bible verses about Jesus, Bible verses about salvation, Bible verses about redemption, Bible verses about God's love, Bible verses about forgiveness, Bible verses about hope, Bible verses about faith, and Bible verse of the day. Kinsman Redeemer here means the covenant near-kin who redeems family property and life — distinct from Redeemer-as-title surveys alone. Boaz buying back the family land and Ruth is that near-kin duty carried out at the gate, and Bible verses about redemption follows the same buying back into God's redeeming love. Boaz's faithful kindness belongs with what the Bible says about loyalty.
Word study (lead theme). In Hebrew, the kinsman-redeemer is גֹּאֵל goel (Strong's H1350; Bible Hub H1350) — to redeem, act as kinsman, buy back. Ruth and Job use this word for the near relative who restores. This list tracks that goel role, not every Redeemer title verse alone.
Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Ruth 4 presses that Boaz as kinsman-redeemer foreshadows Christ's redeeming love — near enough to claim, willing enough to pay (Bible Hub MHC Ruth 4; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Ruth 4). (Redeemer lives on that page; this list centers goel as kinsman.)

What is a kinsman redeemer?
A kinsman redeemer (Hebrew go'el) was a near relative with a duty to buy back what a family member had lost. Leviticus 25:25 states the land duty: "If one of your fellow Israelites becomes poor and sells some of their property, their nearest relative is to come and redeem what they have sold." Leviticus 25:47-49 extends that right to a person who has sold himself. A blood relative may redeem him: "An uncle or a cousin or any blood relative in their clan may redeem them" (Leviticus 25:48-49).
Ruth 3-4 shows Boaz carrying out that duty. Ruth asks him, "Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian-redeemer of our family" (Ruth 3:9). At the gate he redeems the family property and Ruth: "I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon's widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property" (Ruth 4:9-10).
The New Testament presents Jesus as the redeemer who shares our flesh. Hebrews 2:14-17 speaks of the Son sharing in flesh and blood with the people he came to help. Galatians 4:4-5 speaks of God sending his Son, born under the law, to redeem those under the law. Those passages state his redeeming work as one of us. They do not use the Hebrew title go'el, and they do not retell the story of Boaz.

Questions people ask
What is a good Bible verse about Kinsman Redeemer?
Job 19:25 (my redeemer lives), Ruth 3:9 (guardian-redeemer of our family), and Leviticus 25:25 (nearest relative is to come and redeem) are clear starting places.
How do Bible verses about Kinsman Redeemer differ from Redeemer alone?
Redeemer covers the title more broadly across Isaiah and the New Testament. This page centers the Hebrew goel as near-kin who buys back family life and land — then cross-links the Redeemer companion. See Bible verses about the Redeemer.
What does goel mean?
Hebrew goel (H1350) means to redeem, act as kinsman, or buy back. In Ruth it names the guardian-redeemer; in Job it is the living Redeemer who will stand on the earth.
Is Boaz the only kinsman-redeemer in Scripture?
No. The law in Leviticus names the role for any nearest relative; Ruth shows Boaz fulfilling it; Job trusts a Redeemer who lives. Christian reading often sees Christ as the true goel. See Bible verses about Jesus.
How can I remember these verses?
Read Job 19:25, then Ruth 4:9-10. Thank God that a near Redeemer lives. For faith beside that hope, open Bible verses about faith. For salvation, open Bible verses about salvation.
What does kinsman redeemer mean in the Bible?
A kinsman redeemer is the near relative, the go'el, who buys back family land or a family member who has been sold. Leviticus 25:25 says the nearest relative is to come and redeem property that was sold. Leviticus 25:48-49 says an uncle, a cousin, or any blood relative in the clan may redeem a person. Ruth 3:9 and Ruth 4:9-10 show Boaz taking up that duty for Naomi and Ruth.
How is Jesus our kinsman redeemer?
Hebrews 2:14-17 presents Jesus as sharing our flesh and blood. Galatians 4:4-5 presents him as sent, born under the law, to redeem those under the law. Scripture shows the go'el as near kin who pays the price, and it shows Jesus redeeming as one who shares our humanity. It does not give him the Hebrew title go'el in those verses.
