"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

— Philippians 4:7 (NIV)

People who search bible verses about the peace of God want Scripture on the peace of God — Greek eirēnē — that guards hearts and minds, not only the broader peace inventory (peacemakers, peacemaking with others, or Christ as peace). This page is a numbered list of twelve passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. Related lists: Bible verses about peace, Bible verses about Prince of Peace, Bible verses about peace with God, Bible verses about hope, Bible verses about faith, Bible verses about prayer, Bible verses about Jesus, Bible verses about abiding in Christ, Bible verses about salvation, and Bible verse of the day. Peace of God here means Greek eirēnē as God's own peace given and guarding — distinct from peace-with-God justification status and from general peace/peacemaker lists.

Word study (lead theme). In Greek, "peace" is εἰρήνη eirēnē (Strong's G1515; Bible Hub G1515) — peace, harmony, welfare. Philippians 4:7 names "the peace of God" (hē eirēnē tou theou) that surpasses understanding and guards hearts in Christ; other passages speak of peace from God as gift, fruit, and keeping.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Philippians 4 presses the peace of God as the answer to anxious prayer: God's peace keeps the heart and mind (Bible Hub MHC Philippians 4; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Philippians 4). (General peace and peacemaker lists live on the peace page; this list centers the peace of God that guards.)
