Bible Verses About Father of Lights: 12

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

— James 1:17 (NIV)

People who search bible verses about Father of lights want Scripture on the James 1:17 title — patēr tōn phōtōn / the Father of the heavenly lights — not only the broader Light inventory alone, not Light of the World alone (John 8:12), and not Light of Life alone. This page is a numbered list of twelve passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. Related lists: Bible verses about light, Bible verses about Light of the World, Bible verses about Light of Life, Bible verses about Jesus, Bible verses about hope, Bible verses about faith, Bible verses about salvation, Bible verses about God's love, Bible verses about worship, and Bible verse of the day. Father of lights here means James 1:17's phōs title for God as the unchanging giver — distinct from the Light / Light-of-the-World / Light-of-Life lists alone.

Word study (lead theme). In Greek, "lights" in this title is built on φῶς phōs (Strong's G5457; Bible Hub G5457) — light, radiance. James names God patēr tōn phōtōn — the Father of the lights / heavenly lights — and ties every good gift to that unchanging Father who does not shift like shadows. This list tracks that Father-of-lights title and related God-as-source-of-light lines, not every light verse and not Light of the World / Light of Life alone.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on James 1 presses that every good gift comes from the Father of lights, who is unchangeable (Bible Hub MHC James 1; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on James 1). (Light, Light of the World, and Light of Life live on those pages; this list centers the Father-of-lights title.)
