People who search bible verses about the wisdom of God want Scripture on God's own wisdom — not only the broader wisdom list alone. This page is a numbered list of twelve passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. Related lists: Bible verses about wisdom, Bible verses about scripture, Bible verses about Jesus, Bible verses about faith, Bible verses about God's plan, and Bible verse of the day. Wisdom of God here means chokmah / sophia as the Lord's own skill and counsel — distinct from general wisdom-for-life themes alone.

Word study (lead theme). In Hebrew, "wisdom" is often חָכְמָה chokmah (Strong's H2451; Bible Hub H2451) — wisdom, skill, prudence. In Greek it is σοφία sophia (Strong's G4678; Bible Hub G4678) — wisdom. Proverbs 2:6 says the Lord gives wisdom; 1 Corinthians 1:24 names Christ the wisdom of God. God's wisdom is his — not a technique we invent.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Proverbs 2 presses that the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding (Bible Hub MHC Proverbs 2; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Proverbs 2). On 1 Corinthians 1 he marks Christ crucified as the power and wisdom of God to those who are called (Bible Hub MHC 1 Corinthians 1; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on 1 Corinthians 1). (The broader wisdom list lives on that page; this list centers God's own chokmah / sophia.)
