15 Bible verses about joy
Philippians 4:4. "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Joy is commanded in the Lord — repeated so it is hard to miss.
Nehemiah 8:10. "Nehemiah said, 'Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'" God's joy is named as strength, not a luxury.
Psalm 16:11. "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Joy is tied to God's presence, not only to good circumstances.
James 1:2-3. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." Joy in trials is not denial; it is confidence that testing grows perseverance. See Bible verses about faith.
Romans 15:13. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Joy and peace come together from the God of hope. See Bible verses about hope and Bible verses about peace.
Galatians 5:22-23. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Joy is fruit of the Spirit, listed with love and peace. See Bible verses about kindness and Bible verses about patience.
John 15:11. "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." Jesus wants his joy in you — complete, not thin. See John 15:12 and John 15:13.
Psalm 118:24. "The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad." Joy notices what God has done today.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Rejoicing, prayer, and thanksgiving belong together. See Bible verses about gratitude.
Habakkuk 3:17-18. "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines… yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior." Joy can stand when the harvest fails, because it is aimed at God.

Psalm 30:5. "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." Weeping is real; rejoicing is promised on the other side of the night.
Zephaniah 3:17. "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing." God himself rejoices over his people. See Bible verses about God's love.
Romans 12:12. "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Joy is joined to hope, patience, and prayer. See Bible verses about hope and Bible verses about patience.

How to use these verses
Pick one verse when mood is flat, a trial is heavy, or you need to remember joy in the Lord — not fifteen. Read it out loud. If circumstances are dry, start with Habakkuk 3:17-18 or Nehemiah 8:10. If you need joy and peace together, start with Romans 15:13. For peace beside joy, see Bible verses about peace.
