"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
— Psalm 147:3 (NIV)
People who search bible verses about healing want Scripture for sick rooms, anxious nights, and hearts that feel broken — hope that God binds wounds, restores what grief has torn, and meets body and soul with care. Word study (lead verse). In Psalm 147:3 the verb "heals" is Hebrew rapha (Strong's H7495): to heal, mend, or restore — used of bodies and of crushed hearts. The psalm pairs that healing with binding up wounds: care that is hands-on, not distant. See also Bible Hub H7495.
Matthew Henry Concise notes that to those whom God heals with the consolations of his Spirit he speaks peace, and that while he tells the number of the stars he "condescends to hear the broken-hearted sinner" (Bible Hub commentaries on Psalm 147:3; chapter MHC at Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Psalm 147).

Jeremiah 17:14. "Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." Healing prayer names the Lord as the one who heals.
Psalm 103:2-3. "Praise the Lord, my soul… who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases." Forgiveness and healing sit side by side in the same doxology.
Exodus 15:26. "…for I am the Lord, who heals you." God's name includes healer — not a side hobby.
Isaiah 53:5. "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Healing language here is tied to the suffering servant. See Bible verses about God's love.
James 5:14-15. "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well…" Healing is sought in community prayer, not only in private worry.
Matthew 9:35. "Jesus went through all the towns and villages… healing every disease and sickness." Jesus' ministry includes bodies — love that touches what hurts.
Mark 5:34. "He said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.'" Peace and freedom from suffering meet in one word from Jesus. See Bible verses about peace.
3 John 1:2. "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." Soul and body both matter in apostolic prayer.
Psalm 41:3. "The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness." Sustaining on the sickbed is itself a form of care.
Isaiah 41:10. "So do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Strength for the long healing wait. See Bible verses about strength.
Jeremiah 30:17. "‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the Lord…" Restore and heal — promise language for wounds.
Matthew 11:28-29. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest… and you will find rest for your souls." Soul-rest is healing for the overloaded. See Bible verses about hope.
1 Peter 2:24. "‘He himself bore our sins' in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.'" Peter applies Isaiah's healing line to the cross.
1 Corinthians 13:7. "It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Love stays in the room through long recovery. See 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and Love and healing.

Psalm 147:3 and Jeremiah 17:14 are clear starting places: God heals the brokenhearted, and "Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed." Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24 tie healing to Christ's wounds.
What does the Bible say about praying for the sick?
James 5:14-15 calls the sick to ask elders for prayer and anointing. 3 John 1:2 models prayer for good health alongside soul well-being. See Love and healing.

Scripture speaks of both. Psalm 103:3 and Matthew 9:35 include disease and sickness; Psalm 147:3 and Matthew 11:28-29 also speak to broken hearts and weary souls. The pages here do not invent medical claims — they point to the texts.
