Bible Verses About Rock of Israel: 12

"The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: 'When one rules over people in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God,'"

— 2 Samuel 23:3 (NIV)

People who search bible verses about Rock of Israel want Scripture on the Hebrew title ṣûr yiśrāʾēl — the Rock of Israel in David's last words and in Isaiah — not only the hymn title Rock of Ages alone. This page is a numbered list of twelve passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. Related lists: Bible verses about Rock of Ages, Bible verses about protection, Bible verses about Jesus, Bible verses about hope, Bible verses about faith, Bible verses about salvation, Bible verses about covenant, Bible verses about Hope of Israel, and Bible verse of the day. Rock of Israel here means the covenant Rock who speaks and shelters Israel — distinct from Rock-of-Ages or general protection surveys alone. The verse names that Rock as the God of Israel.

Word study (lead theme). In Hebrew, "rock" is צוּר ṣûr (Strong's H6697; Bible Hub H6697) — rock, cliff, refuge. "Israel" is יִשְׂרָאֵל yiśrāʾēl (H3478; Bible Hub H3478). 2 Samuel 23:3 and Isaiah 30:29 join them as Rock of Israel. This list tracks that title, not every rock metaphor alone.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on 2 Samuel 23 presses that David's last words rest on the Rock of Israel who rules in righteousness (Bible Hub MHC 2 Samuel 23; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on 2 Samuel 23). (Rock of Ages lives on that page; this list centers ṣûr yiśrāʾēl.)
