Bible Verses About Holy God: 12

"And they were calling to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.'"

— Isaiah 6:3 (NIV)

People who search bible verses about Holy God want Scripture on the Isaiah 6:3 / Joshua 24:19 title — ʼēl qādôš / hagios — not only the broader Holiness inventory alone (the call to be holy), and not Holy One alone (Christ and Holy-One-of-Israel titles). This page is a numbered list of twelve passages with the NIV text and a short note on each. Related lists: Bible verses about holiness, Bible verses about Holy One, Bible verses about worship, Bible verses about Jesus, Bible verses about hope, Bible verses about faith, Bible verses about salvation, Bible verses about God's love, and Bible verse of the day. Holy God here means Isa 6:3's thrice-holy Name and related "holy God" lines — distinct from the Holiness / Holy-One lists alone. Isaiah heard that cry from the seraphim.

Word study (lead theme). In Greek, "holy" is ἅγιος hagios (Strong's G40; Bible Hub G40) — holy, set apart, sacred. In Hebrew, the matching root is קָדוֹשׁ qādôš (Strong's H6918; Bible Hub H6918) — holy, sacred. Isaiah 6:3's seraphim cry qādôš qādôš qādôš — holy, holy, holy. Joshua 24:19 names him a holy God. This list tracks that Holy-God title and related "you alone are holy" lines, not every holiness verse and not Holy One alone.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Isaiah 6 presses the thrice-holy cry and the prophet's awe before the Holy God (Bible Hub MHC Isaiah 6; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Isaiah 6). On Joshua 24 he presses that Joshua warns the people God is a holy God (Bible Hub MHC Joshua 24; Blue Letter Bible, Matthew Henry on Joshua 24). (Holiness and Holy One live on those pages; this list centers the Holy-God title.)
